The Time Trap: Why We Delay What Matters Most

this week's focus

"Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four-hour days."
— Zig Ziglar

The Time Trap

You’re constantly doing—but rarely moving.

Your to-do list is full, your calendar is packed, your energy is spent… and yet, the thing you say matters most keeps getting postponed.

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying:

  • “I just need more time.”
  • “I’ll figure it out after this project.”
  • “Now isn’t the right moment…”

You’re not alone. You’re in what I call The Time Trap.

The Illusion of Not Enough Time

Here’s the truth: time is not your problem. Your relationship with time is.

High-achieving women often experience time anxiety—the pressure to optimize every hour, the guilt of not doing enough, the constant internal narrative of falling behind.

But what if the issue isn’t how much time you have… but what you’ve decided you’re allowed to use it for?

Research from Dr. Linda Sapadin on procrastination styles shows that self-doubt and emotional avoidance are often disguised as "too busy."

Translation? “I don’t have time” often means “I don’t feel safe, ready, or allowed to prioritize myself.”

Why We Confuse Busyness With Progress

We’ve been conditioned to equate effort with worth. But over-functioning doesn’t create transformation.

  • Constant planning isn’t the same as starting.
  • Helping others with their priorities isn’t the same as honoring your own.
  • Productivity without alignment is just performance.

Your calendar isn’t broken. But the way you relate to time, decisions, and worthiness might be.

According to Harvard Business Review, decision fatigue impacts women in leadership roles disproportionately—leading to stalled momentum and lower self-trust over time.

This isn’t a time management issue. It’s a self-leadership issue.

The Real Cost of Waiting

The longer you wait to act on what you already know, the harder it becomes to trust yourself.

Waiting breeds doubt. Hesitation builds resistance. And slowly, you become someone who wants things but doesn’t act on them.

Time isn’t neutral—it’s either reinforcing your values or your avoidance.

And your future self is watching.

How to Reclaim Time Through Self-Leadership

Here’s what I want you to know:

You don’t need a better calendar. You need a braver decision.

Here are three ways to break the cycle:

One powerful session to unpack your resistance and turn insight into a clear, confident plan.

A 3-month strategy + self-leadership container that helps you go from spinning to structured. We’ll clarify what matters, build weekly accountability, and keep the needle moving.

For those who know the delays aren’t logical—they’re emotional. This journal gently surfaces the subconscious patterns keeping you from taking action. 🎁 This week, I've included the Self-Leadership Audit and Audio Coaching as a bonus to this Journal to help you figure out where you're actually spending your time and how to reclaim it. It's a $37 value but is free with the Journal!

Question

What would change if I stopped waiting for the right time and started trusting that I am the right person?

Your Challenge This Week

Audit your calendar. What’s not on there that you say is important to you? Schedule one action this week that aligns with your future self.

Let’s make this a week of transformation.
